What you do for fun and re-creation?
Hike in the desert, listen to live music, cook, throw dinner parties, hang out around backyard fire pits, read the Sunday NY Times, take a weekly Sabbath.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
So much hurt from who is "in" and who is "out." Sorting through what is essential to carry forward and what is simply cultural. Baggage from clericalism, racism, patriarchy, and colonalism.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
Who doesn't want to be Anglican today.

Really. Even if people don't articulate it. Our historical theology is the perfect setting for holding a communal space for respectful diversity of belief. The theology of the incarnation that Anglicans embrace means working for the justice of the earth and all people is holy work. Our liturgy is beautiful. We don't have to invent everything, we already have a sensual, sacred form. Something that taps into ancient roots. All of these are wonderful gifts that we get to share with the world.
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
Intelligent, hopeful conversation full of humor and encouragement would be lovely. Honesty about struggles and sharing ideas without ego would be a treat. If a bunch of people with money pooled their resources and started a granting foundation just for Anglimergent, that would be a day to dance. One of our ministries at Join the Living is a magazine called Bread & Oranges coming out for the first time in fall 2008. I'd love some great writers and artists to submit their work. Hopefully it will eventually be a resource to bring hope, imagination, and more community to our shared work of sharing the love.

The Search for Signs of Life Tour

In the fall, my partner quit her big episco-church gig and we went on a research tour. We traveled the Western U.S. in a veggieoil/bio-diesel truckcamper to meet emerging and creative church folks first hand. Now we are back in Tucson cultivating community and trying some experiments.

Here are some pics from some of the episcopal related communities we visited. More at our website: www.jointheliving.com or blog.

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, St. Thomas of Canterbury, has managed to stay healthy, creative, and progressive, and is a campus ministry and a church all in one.

Church of the Apostles in borrowed digs while the Abby is getting an overhaul. This Saturday evening the vibe was warm and mellow for St. Francis day.

St. Gregory's of Nyssa, San Francisco, built their building to match their worship and service that includes much dancing and sharing—of their lives and of food.

Inside the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles, Thad's gets ready to roll on a Sunday morning. Their band had a rockabilly, bluesy feel, like something from Austin.

Integration in Flagstaff, Arizona, is a college small group that Northern Arizona University chaplain Tamie Harkins cultivated over several years. It has been highly successful at transforming students' lives.

Thanks, Carol. It would be great to have you in the group. I'm looking forward to getting together. The women of St. Peter's are providing lunch.

Welcome aboard Carol and I hope Kate will join in also,
and help us to help our Anglican body to 'jointheliving.'

Your new community remains in my thoughts and prayers... and we TEC Anglimergents are gonna seek out funding to be able to give grants to new Anglimergent missions like yours!
