The Parish Choir of St. Dunstan's Church of the Highlands Parish singing under the direction of Terry Rogers.
The music at Saint Dunstan's Church in Shoreline was a bit different on Sunday, January 18, 2009. At the 9:30 a.m. service there was the sounds of Gospel music as played by the Ain't No Heaven Seven, a traditional Dixieland jazz band.
Gospel music was chosen for this day because it is the day before the civil remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, January 19. President Ronald Reagan signed the bill to create this holiday in 1983. Following the Christian tradition of remembering saints on the day of their death, the Episcopal Church added an observance of Dr. King's on April 4.
The director of the Parish Choir of St. Dunstan's Parish is Marion Anderson. The director of the Ain't No Heaven Seven is Terry Rogers.
