I had not seen Portraits of the Self and just got to view it. Lovely. I love Krystyna's black and white self and other portraits of herself. I have been working in InfraRed digital for some time. The audio/motion stuff at the beginning looks like Macromedia Flash; that is not what I mean. I'm talking about broadcast quality stereo audio with slides of stills and possibly transitions to video clips. And podcasts. Don't know the technology. ALL photojournalists are going to have to know it or write for a home town weekly print paper with no website.
It's very nice but I don't know what I would do with it.
I do not put others' art on my space, usually. I am
perfectly happy to give a link to it, but i don't know how.
Off to the NPPA in Louisville Ky to learn multimedia and
how to do it.
Texas is good, but busy. I recently became priest-in-charge after our previous interim left. It's a large parish and thus a large job - but it's only temporary. We hope to have a new rector in place by the first of the year. I'm not sure what that will mean for me . . . stay tuned. Things at St. Stephen's seem to be going well, but it's hard to tell from a few conversations over a single weekend. I hope you all are indeed back in the swing of things, doing that voodoo that you do oh so well.
Mel! What's up? I missed you at the St. Stephen's retreat. It was great to see everyone and to reconnect. I hope you and the family are well. Gorgeous painting, by the way (no surprise there).
Hey Tommy I would. I'll need to rent a truck, yes? How about sometime on 2009 - either Lent or Summer? Maybe summer --- her work would be perfect for April - July 2009, don't you think?
in peace,
Mel
Would you still be interested in using some of Patricia's works for Gallery 1055? We have some nice paintings up in the parish at this time. Let's get together soon when you have some time.
Peace and Love,
Tommy
Huh? What show? I have not heard a word from ECVA or ECVA NY since the show we did at the General Seminary last year. I was gonna e mail Krystyna but never did. Is there a show? when? And why would anyone want a self portrait of ME?
Your postcard was fascinating. Congratulations on the award. Hope all is well. I am very busy preparing for the National Press Photographers' Association Northern Short Course in Rochester, NY.
Mel,
Yes, you may repost the creation and recreation. Larger versions of the art that go wityh the words are online at http://www.planetanimals.com/foundartifacts/artist.jpg and http://www.planetanimals.com/foundartifacts/vaticancity-morningprayer.jpg
Am awaiting more on art for faith and art for art's sake.

I wish I could take credit for it. It's a piece of found art, discovered on a street art Flickr feed that I follow. The resemblance is uncanny really. I'm not sure I could honestly enter it since it's not an original piece.
Mel,
Chuck Palahniuk's rather disturbing book, Diary, helped me to see how all art is autobiographical. Decide to paint St. George and the Dragon. That choice is your choice. The size of the canvas, the colors. Every decision is autobiographical. In the end it could look like a lot of other paintings of St. George and the Dragon and that would be your autobiographical statement, or it could look like no one elses and that too is a statement. So for a person of faith, can there be any art of any kind that is not something of art for faith's sake?
Put another way...a favorite epitaph of mine is the one that said, "Here lies John Smythe (or some similar name) who cobbled shoes in this town for 42 years to the glory of God."
So if you create art for art's sake, that too can be for the glory of God and is that different in kind from art for faith's sake?

I think I love the 4th set best. Christ is so human...
Art have always been in the forefront of the prophetic voice.
Peace.

Just wondering aloud here.
As to Episcopal café, I did a couple of entries for the ECVA Sketchbook Christian Grafitti and Creation and Recreation. Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?
