Anglican charismatic renewal and emerging church

I'm doing research into the charismatic renewal movement and its effect on South African Christianity. The movement peaked in the 1970s and 1980s and has been declining since then, and I'm wondering if any of the people involved in it have found their way into the emerging church movement.

My interest is not exclusively among Anglicans, though I have found Anglicans the most forthcoming and willing to help.

If you are interested in knowing more, see Notes from underground: Research: charismatic renewal movement in S... and A conspiracy of silence - South African church history.

It's good to be in touch again!

Someone told me Ross Cuthbertson had died -- I'm glad to hear he hasn't.

John de Gruchy wrote a book on the charismatic renewal 25 years ago, which was uppressed and never published,. He's now agreed that I should edit and update it and we try to find a publisher. I'll e-mail you about the project -- too much detail to post here.

Hey Stephen.
You cannot say that youare not emergent. Your research deals squarely with 21st Century emergent conversation.
Ross Cuthbertson is now emergent. A talk with him might help. He is not 21st Century technological.though. Communication with him will have to be 20th Century- snail mail, telephone

Andrew Jones is the master historian on all things emergent - I know he has talked about the history of the charismatic movement outside of the US before http://tallskinnykiwi.typepad.com/tallskinnykiwi/
