Most of the locals who were at this are connected to Wicker Park Grace, a PC(USA) church plant in the city. They were great, friendly people. The Chicago Emergent Cohort functions both in the city and in the 'burbs and, again, the Wicker Park people are a chunk of the crowd. The Cohort blog is here: http://up-rooted.blogspot.com/ and they try to meet monthly.

The Theology Pub was the first meeting I made it to. There was a huge turnout from AAR and the bar music was very loud, so they decided to split the authors up into different areas of the balcony and let people float around, join in conversations, ask them questions, make connections with other attendees, etc.

It was honestly a little difficult and a bit overwhelming with the number of people there but definitely worth it to show up.

Yeah, I agree, the venue should have been a bit quieter. To be honest, I don't think that many people were expected. After all, the Pete Rollins/John Caputo discussion only had 30 people show up - and there was only one other conflict that evening; whereas, this event competed with a host a parties, a major keynote speaker, etc. Glad to see this many people wanted to connect.

Jessica - if you didn't make it and don't know Nanette Sawyer, email me and I can connect you. Through her, she can connect you to the Chicago cohort folks. There is an Episcopal priest named William Roberts who was there - he works in a church in the Chicago suburbs. email me at bgthedoor@aol.com. The rest of the people were from AAR and we're all around the country.
