Just dug out my Advent Liturgies to decide whether an edit is due. It looks like these are a 2005/6 edit/update. I betcha I could ramble on about liturgies, the Viqueens, the MN Goofers, the Twinkies, or any such thing and NO One would notice or c...

Anglimergent Gathering This Weekend

Anglimergent in the United States came from seeds of hope that were planted in the hearts and minds of Phyllis Tickle, Karen Ward, Howard Anderson, Devon Anderson, and myself. These seeds were nurtured by the writings and appearances of Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones, and a whole host of emergent and not-so-emergent types.

In February 2008, Anglimergent took on organizational life as interested individuals were called together in Minneapolis for a two day conversation about the hopes, d… Continue

'Emerging Church' Topic of Episcopal Life Article

In case you didn't see it, here's the link to an article on the emerging church from today's Episcopal Life. I'd love to hear what you think.

What is Anglimergent?

Identity is probably THE topic for discussion at the upcoming Anglimergent meeting in March.

What is Anglimergent? Who is Anglimergent? Are we really Anglican and Emergent? What are we doing? What do we want?

As with many things postmodern, what Anglimergent even is can be tough to define - and I'm betting each one of us would describe it a bit differently (if not radically differently).

So, what is your understanding of the Anglimergent identity? What is Anglimergent to you?

Hi Wendy:

Thanks for asking. We've been cultivating community and trying out some new forms of church/community for almost a year in Tucson.

Join the Living's website is www.jointheliving.com and blog is www.jointheliving.blogspot.com.

My partner and I are Episcopalian (she's a priest, I have an M.Div.)

We haven't tried to have a weekly churchly service, yet, on purpose. We've done some experimenting and are building relationships. We did an interactive all night Easter Vigil in the desert last year, hiking church during the season of Easter, and a 5-week Christmas Conspiracy project. We also just personally throw a lot of parties. We've had a great response to all the happenings.

We are also part of a forming ecumenical intentional community called the Restoration Project. There are three ministers, a Quaker folk singer, a writer, and two full time activists that make up the Restoration Project so far. We are all in our 20s/30s. We've met weekly since May for a meal and singing and Sabbathing. Four of us live close together already, and we are looking for a place where we could all live near one another. We want to focus on hospitality and work together around issues of food justice.

Be glad to tell you more if you like. Blessing to you up in MN!

Wendy,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I've been on the road. I would love to address the MN convention. At the moment I am scheduled to be in Texas that weekend (October 25-26). If you can confirm the invitation, I will do what I can to change my other commitment because I feel the MN opportunity is far more important. Might you be able to put me on the first day?

Thanks for the suggestion. Hope it can work.

Shalom,

Fred

A little team from COTA and COTB including me is curating the Eucharist at 3:45 pm Wed at the Hotel Deca Ballroom.

The COTA weekly service is Sat. 5 pm in Fremont about 8 minutes away by car. so come on over. You can get a ride with Lacey our music director who is coming to COTA after the closing worship sat at the Communicators event.

I hope to speak to Devon's Mom who will also be here, about Anglimergent dreams and support.
