Field Trip to Safeway on Palm Sunday

"What? This is a joke, right?" But, Pastor Megan was not joking. Tonight, at Community of Travelers at St Aidan's, we were going to walk to the Safeway across the street and hand out palm leaves for Palm Sunday. Safeway. A place where I regularly shop for groceries. A place where non-church people were. The concept was this: we would explore what it may have been like for Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem (which was today's gospel). To be honest, I always pictured his ride on Palm Sunday to be one…See More

Lady Gaga Mass at the Community of Travelers

Last Sunday at Community of Travelers at St. Aidan's, we actually had a Gaga Mass. What's that? I'm glad you asked, dear reader. Pastor Megan rewrote the words to some of Lady Gaga's hit songs, such as "Paparazzi" and "Telephone". Not only were the words rewritten, the songs were made acoustic and performed with just a guitar, a piano, and some passionate singing. My favorite song was "Bad Romance", mainly because this is the one the congregation sang the best.I think if we had more practice at…See More

Why I Attend The Community of Travelers

Why I Attend The Community of Travelers- Join Meby Connie ThomasI’ve never really been a church go-er. If you ask my mom, she’ll tell you that I’ve avoided going to church just about my whole life. She would also tell you, though, that I have always been spiritually minded. Whether believing in the idea of angels, spirits, or divine plan, I’ve always believed there was something bigger than…See More

A Reflection of the Community of Travelers at St. Aidan's Episcopal, San Francisco

by Aubrey HarmonWalking into the sanctuary for the first meeting of the Community of Travelers, I was nervous. In the last few years I’ve been to church maybe a dozen times. I have a deep desire to find my spiritual home, but I had yet to find a place where all of my pieces (bisexual, woman, mother, spouse-of-an-atheist, Christian) fit. I had attended church services at St. Aidan’s twice, where I met the Rev. Tommy Dillon. At one of St. Aidan’s events – Sacred Cocktails, I heard the Rev. Megan…See More

Hi Tommy - Do we have any "non-stuffy" liturgies here in the Bay Area that you would recommend? I'm at Good Shepherd in Berkeley but could come to SF. Have 3 young kids which impairs my worship experience at some places but am open to trying some new venues and experiences.
