I have been facilitating a Theology on Tap since June, and that loud pub problem is the single largest issue. There are precious few bars in my small town (suburb of Tulsa), so we moved it to the (only) coffeeshop, which also has a noise problem. ...

Saint Francis very nearly made peace with the Muslims, after going to the Sultan of Egypt. To this day the Franciscans are guardians of many Christian holy sites in the region because of his faithfulness to peacemaking.

I am a Mechanical Engineer and I am serving in the vanguard of Oklahoma's Monastic, Anglo-Catholic regeneration. Think of it as ecclesiastical guerrilla warfare, with nice vestments and tea at 4.
What you do for fun and re-creation?
I like doing things with my hands, I have a small shop where tinker around with small projects. I enjoy old cars, my church, and travel when I can. I also like going to museums, since I am a big history buff, watching sci-fi, Lost, Heroes are my current favorites. I Love action movies, but I’m not big on horror. The occasional opera and philharmonic can be fun as well.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Living out our faith in this society and time that God has given us.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
Reaching young Evangelicals who seek deeper communion with God, using ancient methods of spirituality.
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
As yet, I don't know

recycle vestments

My Parish has a request from some friends connected to a Church in Ghana. We are wondering if any one knows of a vestment and vessel 'recycling' program anywhere? They are so expensive and hard to truly wear out.

Any ideas?

Father Richard Rohr & the Emerging Church

Father Richard Rohr at The Center for Action and Contemplation (located in Albuquerque, New Mexico), is having a conference on the Emerging Church in March of 2009. Is anyone from Oklahoma going? Who else might be attending?

Here is the link if you want to check it out.

Feast of the Transfiguration 6 August

Today, the Church remembers the radical change in appearance of Our Lord Jesus Christ, while in the presence of Peter, James, and John, on a high mountain. The Transfiguration revealed Christ's glory to His disciples, in shining splendor of Uncreated Light.

For a moment the veil is drawn aside, and humans still on earth are permitted a glimpse of the heavenly reality, the glory of the Eternal Triune God. Before that small group of Apostles, Christ was shown greater than the Lawgiver (Moses) and… Continue

An emergent event coming in November in OKC "Worship in a Postmodern Accent. . . "

I was wondering if any of my fellow Okies or others nearby might be interested in this upcoming event:

Worship in a Postmodern Accent. . .
. . . November 6-8, 2008

How and where does worship fit into the myriad of sensory experiences in contemporary culture? Is it pushed to the margins, or can it be re-envisioned to fit squarely in the center of our lives? How can we conduct worship in a way that is molded by and relevant to who we are, which may seem absent from our houses of worship. In

Medical Crisis

Some of you know that my father had a heart valve replaced in late winter. He has been slowly recovering, but his lungs have been the major problem. As a child he had pneumonia three winters straight.

My sister just called, and Dad has been rushed to the hospital in the night with a major breathing problem which has turned out to be a bad case of pneumonia. The doctors do not think the antibiotics will work in time, and his outlook is grim.

Please pray for him, my mom and family. He has been t… Continue

Hi Terry,
Well, Saturday night probably isn't a very good time for me,
but in order to experience this kind of service, I'd probably go!

Thanks for writing. Do you need any information about Anglican
Prayer Community?

If it's the same guy he is the Anglican Dicoese of Newcastle in Australia. I was introduced to him last week and am meeting him for coffee next week. I am an ordained Baptist pastor but get the impression that the Anglican church in Australia can better support my pioneering church planting.

Actually, I have found that younger people like liturgical worship. What I find striking, though, is that a fair number have a fondness for Rite I.

Sorry I don't know any Anglicans in Australia. I am a Baptist pastor and joined this group to meet other emerging thinkers.

As my vocation develops with the BSG, one of the things I am interested in , is providing some help to smaller congregations.

When we have 100 people between 2 Sunday services it's a good day. I'll have to check out the blog. In a couple of weeks I'm going to a TEC Office of Congregational Development seminar at Myrtle Beach called Start Up! Start Over! Pretty excited about it. Enid's a town of almost 50k, so we should be a stronger presence than we are now.
