Anglimergents in Western Michigan Gather and Engage the Community

A year ago, there were no gathered groups of Anglimergent folks in Western Michigan. A few of us showed up virtually at this site, but barely knew each other.

Fast forward to this past spring, when the first Anglimergent activity started taking place: the diocesan Adult Formation Commission created a panel for our diocesan convention to educate folks about the emergent church conversation. The three of us who were on the panel (Chad Allen, Nate Dawson, Nurya Love Parish) carpooled.… Continue

Any day name one! Let's get specific so we can check against calendars. What days next week are you Downtown or what evening are you available in Rockford. I never sleep and evenings are usually good.

Friday would be good, but this week or end of July I am taking off to go on a Zen Lunatic racksack journey the 3rd through the 13th.

Yes, I work downtown and frankly lunch is usually a great time for me to meet since my children are at daycare. Let's swap schedules next week and see when it might be possible.

I work 5-2 afterwards I am available. I can have daycare until 5:30 p.m, and if my wife doesn't have any other plans could probably even get away with having her pick up the kids. What time is best for you and when? I am downtown G.R. until 2:00 p.m.

After June 15th I am busy: June 15-17, 19-24, & 28-30, but other than that I am somewhat available. ;)

Nate has told me so much about you, but I didn't realize we have so much more in common than a love of the Anglican tradition, being diocesan Aspirants, and possessing varied backgrounds in theology. I live in Rockford with my family and my wife and I grew up in Greenville, in fact my wife attended for many years across the street from St. Paul's at the Congregational Church. I must say I am growing more and more eager to meet you by the day.

Thanks Nurya - I need to get that group/conversation started sometime soon! The approaching Holy Week seems to push so many things to the back burner...

Nurya: Hope you won't mind a note from a relative stranger. Thought you'd like to know that a couple of your Fountain Street sermons (Let us be Grateful and Emergent) continue to inspire. I've used them with Living the Questions groups at my own church, Wesley-Knox United and nearby Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, both in London, Ontario, where a bunch of us are working hard at becoming "emergent" (e.g., we have Marcus Borg coming to Wesley-Knox next June)! Best wishes from London, Ontario. Harry MacLean
