Hope you're not having to wear masks all the time up there with Mt. Redoubt spouting. Good to hear from you. I'm still in Denver, stirring up trouble. hmmm..a Leonard Cohen fan? We are talking the same language!
Michael - Hey and thanks for the invite, friend! One little bit of trivia for you ---- my maiden name is, yup, you guessed it, Burke. And my godson is Michael. :)
Rector of an institutionally & organizationally conservative church w/ potential...
What you do for fun and re-creation?
Hoped for vocation in an alternate universe: Peripheral Visionary
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Following a radically challenging and inclusive way of Jesus,
with a deep missional focus in an ever-changing world,
from within a larger Church that is hopeful and grace-filled,
... yet which is to some extent both culture-bound and still very much generationally naive.
Bonus point challenges: Inertia, fear, and the lack of the courage of our better imaginations.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
"Here's where we gotta be /
Love and community /
Laughter is eternity /
If joy is real"
(Well, it beat out a Leonard Cohen quote, which was my other first thought...)
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
Hope. Laughter. Community. Yes, all that and more:
* Resources for experiential multi-sensory worship and renewal; c
* Counsel and conversation on experience and strategies for gently, lovingly, and creatively engaging with a certain kind of old-line liberal authoritarianism in Church leadership, and
* Comraderie in giving support and voice to a socially progressive Christ-centered missional community emerging from within and around the beautiful frayed edges of our tribes and congregations.
