Twitter Church?

The most recent edition of Time magazine has a piece on Twitter being used in church services. Throughout the service the congregation is encouraged to twitter about the service, with a large screen in the auditorium streaming the tweets as they occur.

The same piece also spoke about Trinity Wall Street Church who this past Easter twittered the passion play including, ‘via @romanguard1: I’ve got dibs on his robe, but if you guys want to cast lots for the rest of his clothes I’m cool… Continue

Twitter?

Many are questioning the point of Twitter. Perhaps the best question to ask is, how can this assist us in the church? I have just set up a Twitter account called, 'Anglican Church' and invite you if you are on Twitter to make a connection. See: http://twitter.com/AnglicanChurch

And hopefully together we can answer that pertinent question!

God bless,

Rev Mark

The Digital Revolution and the Church

I have written a paper entitled, ‘The Digital Revolution and the Church‘, in which I outline the characteristics of the phenomenal internet driven digital revolution presently sweeping the globe. I particularly focus on how it is affecting human behavior, which offers some insights into how we as a church might need to respond. The opening paragraph reads,

There is a revolution sweeping across the globe, driven by the massive growth of the internet and internet related… Continue

Hello Mark,
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back. Please accept my apology. We have been quite busy moving jurisdictions and entering into the new North American Province that has just been formed. I'm now in the Reformed Episcopal Church which is a founding jurisdiction of the new Province which is called the Anglican Church in North America. I'm sure you have heard about everything going on in our little part of the world. I'm very excited as is Fr. Greg.

I head over to the REC House of Bishops meeting next week. Should be interesting. I'm looking forward to the Provincal Synod in June. Archbishop Akinola is attending and I suspect some of the other Primates might as well, although I don't know for certain.

Let me know how you're doing over there. I've never been to New Zealand, but I've have the opportunity to visit Darwin and the Northern Territories of Australia. Really enjoyed it.
Blessings,
+Bishop Wes

Thanks for your welcome words. Several people I know already are members of this web community or webring whatever. Links and connections are easy on the internet, and even the Anglican Communion is a small world. I believe that sharing voices from other part of the Communion will be important to all of us.

Hello Fr. Mark,
I'm really learning quite a bit from everyone here. There are some good ideas that we're putting to use in my parish. As part of the Continuing Church Movement in the U.S. I'm always looking for ways to grow our parish, or start a new mission effort elsewhere.

What kinds of things are happening at the Cathedral there? Are you trying some innovative things for outreach?

I haven't read your paper on the digital revolution and the Church, but I'm going to do that this evening. I don't believe we can take the influence the internet is having on the Gospel lightly.

Off to the office. Talk with you soon.
Blessings,
+Wes

Hi Mark,
Greetings from Woking...
Weird that its easy to make emerging church connections with New Zealand, but much harder to get any local interest. I know just a few people on the site - so am hoping this will help enlarge my network and maybe throw up some local connections too.
Keep in touch
