What you do for fun and re-creation?
listening or dancing to the blues ironically makes me 'happy'... I love watching movies and have recently discovered a fondness for the poetry of William Carlos Williams.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
I think coming to terms with what it means to be Anglican is a significant problem. How do we remain at the same table given significantly different understandings of what it is Christ is calling us to be and do in the world? I also think there is a problem in the US of a growing sense that the Church is simply irrelevant.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
I think the Church is in a place where it can ask some difficult but in the end profoundly important questions about what it means to be someone who follows Christ. Now that Christendom is becoming a more and more distant reality we have to ask: what does it mean to be a Church on the margins? I also think the Anglican Church has an opportunity to be a force for good in both ecumenical and interfaith conversations. As a tradition that holds itself together not because of a common doctrine, but based on a common origin, we have a unique opportunity to model and name how Christians in general might stay at the table despite irreconcilable theological differences.
