IMO a church that is not clearly and proactively on the side of the poor and takes their needs aspirations and hopes seriously is not the Church of JC. (Not my thought, but Leonardo Boff, in The True Church and the Poor. Worth reading.) So Evangeliz…

This should be a project of a special commission of all concerned. We are ready for it. Let´s advocate for the creation of a new Book, in Spanish, drafted by a special commission of poets, liturgical theologians and if necessary, some bishops. We ha…

Why is it that the foreign, the exotic, is so attractive to Christians? Do we confuse it with the Reign of God? Let´s face it: it´s not like Mexicans do not have enough material to create their own liturgy out of their own experience. Oh! I forget.…

Antes que nada un LOC en español deberá ser escrito originalmente en español, por Latinoamericanos. (La Iglesia Reformada en España ya tiene su propio libro, con raices antiquisimas). El LOC que tenemos ahora es una traduccion literal del Ingles --y…

I meant to add, Jamie, that "When are you going to make them Anglican" has nothing to do with either baptism or confirmation, since neither is the sole property of Anglican Christianity, let alone Episcopal. If your bishop is concerned about this, m…

The long, sorry story of Confirmation In the 4th century (there were differing practices earlier) The laying on of hands was the final blessing by the bishop (who was more like a parish priest those days) in a sort of dismissal (the word missa come…

What you do for fun and re-creation?
Garden. Cook. Opera, Medieval Music. Collect Native American pottery, Guatemalan weaving.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Inculturation of the liturgy.
I increasingly suspect that what we do in church on Sunday is not how must people would worship if we let them.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
The economic crisis might be a blessing in disguise for our churches. Now more than ever Vestries and leadership are going to have to evaluate their clergy not in terms of how happy they are with them but in terms of how the congregation is able to welcome and support new members as they consider the Christian life. The engine behind this, I am sorry to say, will not be evangelical zeal, but meeting the budget. Hey, God uses the strangest motives!
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
A site to share resources and experiences, and do some disciplined thin king about these.
