Letters to Dear Friends

Sometimes technology can bring a twist to something familiar that makes it fresh and exciting. I discovered this while adapting the New Testament to an ebook reader format. When read individually, not as part of a collection, the epistles stand out for what they are: letters from Paul to his dear friends. Scriptural Stations of the Cross by Pope John Paul II

A burden on my heart has been to make some of the practices we have be more scriptural.  I am not alone in this desire, because Pope John Paul II wanted the same thing.  He re-wrote the Stations of the Cross, making each station to be based on a specific scripture reference. Attached is a pdf file of his scriptural Stations of the Cross.  It has been formatted for 8 1/2 X 14 paper, and is already correlated for front and back print to make it into a booklet.  I hope you find it useful! If you…See More

Reigniting an Almost Extinguished Flame

Our congregation is at a crossroads and a dilemma. Our parish priest is at manditory retirement age, and will leave at the end of the year.  Because we are in a basically rural area with a smaller population, the diocese has decided to not send another full-time priest.  There are three congregations in our county facing this same problem.  All three congregations also have the problem of an aging and declining membership.  My wife and I are some of the youngest in our congregation, and we are…See More

What you do for fun and re-creation?
Writing, music, computers, flea marketing, collecting.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Overcoming the cumulative errors in the ecclesiastical culture to enable the "common people" to have closer relationships with Jesus Christ, not just having greater allegiance to the institution. This can be done by renewing the call to Sola Scriptura..returning to the Scriptures as the foundation for faith and practice, not tradition.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
Using the beauties and power of some of the traditions and rituals to welcome in and keep in those who are seeking a true relationship with God and Christ.
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
I want this to be an honest conversation, and not just another site for spouting off this or that new faddish idea or for promoting any agenda other than how we can get people to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. And I definitely do not want it to be a dumping ground for those whose ideas contradict orthodoxy and have been rejected by the mainstream church. We need to be a return to authentic Christianity, not a mouthpiece for those who do not believe in it.

A little about me...

I'm new at being an Episcopalian, but not being a Christian or dealing with Christian issues. I've been a committed Christian since 1975 and have over 20 years in Christian leadership in several different denominations and ministry settings. If you are curious about me, I would encourage you to view my ministry's web site:

Technology and the Poor -- And why we are really the rich

I read two separate articles today which when taken on the whole illustrate a really disturbing trend in the US and developed world.  That trend is technology.  But not just stuff...its like love of technology for its own sake.  There are implications to technology that most do not see.  This is especially true when it comes to technology and the church.

In one article, Steve Jobs is quoted as saying that he does not want the iPhone to just be for the rich.  But lets face it,…
