Hi Frank, A really good book on Celtic Spirituality would be Ian Bradley's "Citizens of Heaven" where he fully explores the paradigm of the monasterium. A lot has been said about Whitby and most of it is exaggeration or wrong. Whitby basically sta…

This is indeed a subject very close to my heart... I've been reading alot of resources in a bit of personal study, and sharing them in some recent Bible studies at the Crossing, an emerging community at Boston's Episcopal Cathedral. My other church,…

Over a year ago our church adult discussion group had a short series on Celtic Christianity, starting with the book "How the Irish Saved Civilization", and I too enjoyed their take on spirituality. The sense that I got from it was: this sense of God…

I am fortunate to work for my church as a part time sexton and for The Duncan Conference center as a part time bookkeeper and sexton.
What you do for fun and re-creation?
I enjoy outreach with a particular interest in the needs of the homeless, sick and handicapped. I also enjoy my work as it is all church-related. I serve in my church as lay reader/eucharistic minister, lead morning prayer (the very best service of all), coordinate our food donation program and try to be helpful in any way I can find (or finds me). We are fortunate to have excellent leadership in education and Christian formation with Bible study, church history classes and DOCC offered and well attended. We have a men's spiritual group that meets for breakfast Wednesday mornings at 7:30 where we discuss current books and have splendid fellowship.
I also enjoy my lovely wife and my bossy kitty-cat, walking, nature, animals, baseball, theater and opera.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Too many ponderous, legalistic people hindering progress.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
Our presiding bishop is the right person with the right message in the right place. She is a valuable resource who could help us grow.

A friend from Barbados pointed out that while the British were poor as colonizers, they did leave behind the heritage of the Anglican church and the parliamentary system - both helpful in assuring a successful society
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
You could promote regional gatherings so that we could meet local people with similar interests.

Seek Justice, Show Mercy and Walk Humbly with your God.

the lake at Kanuga #1 spiritual spot-morning prayer here is wonderful-I took DOCC training here. If you want an intense and rewarding small group formation program, try DOCC.

The lovely mountaintop lake at Cowan's Gap, PA-another place I found the peace of God at a crucial time.

Our labyrinth at Duncan Center if you can't make it to NC or PA-very spiritual and powerful centering aid

my cat Lucky-her purr is restful

This forum is an excellent idea. It is hard to get momentum on a forum like this, and you are already way ahead with a dozen of StG people plus a couple thousand E.C. people. My Australian friend used to say "Good on you." So I say, "Good on you, Frank."
