What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Anglican churches are among the biggest contributors (20%, according to Pew) to the rapidly developing contingent of "Nones"--people who don't identify with a specific religious tradition. Most Nones remain believers, and most continue a spiritual practice of diverse seeking. But they are generally dissatisfied with religious institutions. Our churches need to develop ways to encourage ongoing spiritual seeking and growth in the context of practicing communities connected to deep spiritual traditions.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
Anglicans are uniquely positioned, in historical and theological terms, to engage the spiritual needs of people who maintain religious belief but who are disconnected from religious institutions.
