Missioner for Liturgy & the Arts/Director of Music
What you do for fun and re-creation?
Love to cook & entertain. Playing with my dawgs. (2 golden retrievers) Singing jazz standards when I can...
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
Learning the difference between Unity and Uniformity is our greatest challenge. And until we learn it thoroughly, our mission and ministry will be diminished.
The issues which divide us are, in the end, not as big as we think: The petty squabbling over issues of sexuality, orthodoxy, literalism, judgmentalism, etc. are challenges of our own making, and it IS within our power to live beyond them, because with God all things are possible.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
We are uniquely poised in history to do something wonderful. We have the capacity to spread God's message of love, hope and liberation FROM THE MARGIN. We need to realize that marginalization, while it can be challenging and even lonely, has its own set of abundant blessings. I think we should dance joyfully on the margin with our arms and hearts open, ready to welcome others, and receive the blessings that are already being showered down.

How's life and the new life in Chicago? I keep looking for press releases about your arrival in Hyde Park, but all I hear about is some guy named Obama. Know him?

Really good to hear from you Dent! I was wondering what happen to you. Going to Chicago? You are bound to run into some of my friends. I just graduated from seminary at Seabury. I have heard good things about St. Paul and the Redeemer. They are lucky to be getting you.
Now I am the Assistant Rector of St. Paul's Indianapolis. My primary focus is Young Adult Ministry (21-35). We are starting a new evening service and we want to do some creative stuff with it. I would love to pick your brain sometime. (lcarpenter@stpaulsindy.org, 317-253-1277 ext 15)
Hi handsome.
When do you move to Chicago? I want you to meet my 'brother' Kevin Anderson from ELCA worship office. Or maybe you know him already, as I know you know Scott Weidler + I'm trying to chase down +Jeff re: some emerging event or your convention in November. He mentioned something I might do. Know anything?

Glad you're headed East! Maybe we'll run into each other sometime. Careful with the moving boogie.
Blessings and Peace to you, my friend.
