What you do for fun and re-creation?
Laugh - hopefully when traveling, taking photos, reading in coffee shops, hanging with friends, thinking about life with God, yadda, yadda, yadda.
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges facing Anglicans today?
The growing unwillingness to strive with those we disagree with.
What do you see as some of the biggest opportunities for Anglicans today?
The Anglican ethos seems strategically poised to meet what demographers suggest younger people are looking for in their spiritual quest - that which is ancient, mystery, traditional forms of liturgy, and a willingness to question, wonder, doubt, and wrestle together with it all.
What do you want Anglimergent to be? and what other Anglimergent resources, gatherings, activities or events would you find helpful for your ministry?
Don't know yet.

What to do...

I've written before that as Christians, despite what cultural Christianity or the religion of it all might imply, we are not to behave as the World does. Reminds me of Austin Powers, international man of intrigue, when he says, "Oh, be-have!" Anyway, left or right, conservative or liberal, the way society or politics deal with troubling issues and the ways people behave towards one another are not the ways we in the Church, "conservative" or "liberal," are to behave. We need one long, loud, and… Continue

Travis -

Well, I might think you have an emotional condition if you keep referring to yourself as an "asshole." Just kidding...

Believe me, Travis, I know what it is like being overly busy - and I don't even have a family. At least, as you said, you like both. Are you pursuing a PhD/ThD at this point?

I'm doing alright, but am burned out and wondering what comes next. My role with the research project we are doing with the Church Pension Fund is coming to an end. My position is budgeted through the end of the year, but I don't know what is going to happen next. I really hate my job, even thought the project is an important one that will affect us all - priests and lay employees. I like the other three people on the project team and CPF is a great place to work. I'm just really not a "numbers" kind of guy, so why am I a data analyst? There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

St. Paul's is going very well! We just keep growing, and primarily with younger folk. All we really do is try to stay focused on Jesus, the call to discipleship, and finding the "third way" that is always the Kingdom of God. If we listened to the "people in the know," everything we are doing should be spelling our doom. At this point, we don't know what to do with all the new people. Now, we aren't having thousands or even several hundred (yet), but for this parish the influx of people is great. They are working on trying to put together the money to hire me full-time. There really is too much to do at this point for Peter, the Rector.

I'm not really sure - I am torn between wanting to stay at this great parish and wanting to get back into college work, chaplaincy. I really am wanting to form an intentional community (kind of like in the vain of the New Monasticism). I see it happening all around, and this is something I've wanted to do for many years. At some point, I just need to do it, but it is so expensive in the City. When a single, modest apartment/condo sells for 1.5 million, what do you do?

So, there you go. If you are ever in New York, give me a "halla" - yup, I'm hip and cool (it's probably spelled differently, but what do I know). :-) Tell you lovely wife "hello" for me, and give the little one a kiss. I'm sure that isn't too difficult a thing to do! I wish you well, Travis, in your studies and ministry.
