If anyone is going to be a Greenbelt this summer... I will be speaking as part of the CMS programme on...

"Exploring the New-Monastics – how small communities are reframing tradition, spirituality, community and mission in the search for expressions of Christian community that in the words of Brother Samuel are “are homes of generous hospitality, places of challenging reconciliation and centres of attentiveness to the living God”.

I've no idea when at this point, I'll post the day/time when I know.

Ian,
It seems to me that you are saying that 'new' monastics are pretty much the 'old' monastics reborn. Is that correct?

Thanks Ian for this you are a blessing. I am sending you an e-mail with a boring question on it if you could hit me back that would be great.

Thanks, Ian, for the invite and thanks for starting this. I'll undoubtedly be more a lurker and a watcher than a contributor here, but I am grateful to get to do such...pt

New Monasticism or more arguably postmodern re-Friaring is a model of church which some fresh/emerging churches have adoped in a culture that is resacredising (if there is such a word) and into new forms of mysticism born out of a new culture of spiritual consumer focused and technologically driven seekers/tourists. The challenge then is how we should live utilising a rhythm of life, in the context of an apostolic calling to live and breathe the gospel in the context of the contemporary culture.

May be a place to start would be for people to share their communal stories.
