To my Anglimergent Community, I just graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary-Post Graduate Diploma in Anglican Studies. My main goal is to become a Rector or Asst. Rector of an Episcopal Church (ECUSA). If you know of a church looking for a "good Rector" let me know or forward my name onto them. I have attached my resume so that you can see my experience. The link below will take you to my resume. Keep me in your prayers.

RESUME

Peace and love,

Richard

tiredof keeping it to yourself?

Pub(lic) spirituality is an open discussion that meets monthly at Empire Brewing in Armory Square.

Our next meeting is Monday, December 15th, 5:30-7:00 PM.

A variety of folks attend, some Episcopalian, some not to share their thoughts, ideas and questions. Very casual, no agenda, no program, just conversation and good company.

For more info go to: http://www.nooutcasts.org/
or call Sue Wright at 473-1804.

Tired of keeping your spirituality to yourself?
Interested in planning an inter-parish emerging worship service?

Pub(lic) Spirituality is an open discussion that gathers monthly at Empire Brewing Co. in Armory Square.

Several of us are also very interested in planning an emerging worship service, which blends participatory art and contemporary music with ancient liturgy and practices. We welcome anyone else who is interested to join us!

Our next meeting is Monday, August 25th, 5:30-7:00 PM.

mark/john bible study to begin august 14th
Anthony Bartlett, PhD., Bexley Hall professor of theology and biblical studies is offering a new bible study on Thursday evenings. Tony's work is very attractive to emergent christians or anyone questioning the role of religion in today's world. See his description below. If you want to know more about Tony's work, check out his book on Amazon! [link]

DESCRIPTION:

Wood Hath Hope bible study group will start a new program on August 14…a parallel study of the gospels of Mark and John.

Taking two gospels together has special advantages. By reading the texts side by side we highlight questions of the composition of the gospels. What were the diverse messages about Jesus that Mark and John offer in their arrangement of the material, what different responses do they evoke, in what direction do they take the hearer/reader of the story? And think about it: what other sacred scripture tells the same story side by side four times over? It seems pretty clear this single story is made to be told in multiple ways. Perhaps that’s the only way we can finally get it!

At the same time putting the gospels together points to the underlying pre-gospel layers. It leads us to look for the Jesus-level of the tradition. It’s a kind of triangulation effect moving us toward a third point which is the story of the person of Jesus prior to the written gospels.

Finally the two gospels Mark and John together show from different angles the strangeness of Jesus, the Jesus who does not fit pre-existing categories. Mark introduces a disturbing figure surrounded by human violence. John presents a transcendent figure surrounded by God. But in an uncanny way one figure is the other, Jesus the focus of human violence is the divine Jesus, and vice versa...

Wood Hath Hope meets at the Women’s Information Center

600 Allen St., Syracuse, 13210

Thursdays from 6.30 to 8.30pm.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Liverpool, is seeking to hire a church musician to begin in September. We’re a growing, vibrant, suburban parish who is well steeped in our Anglican tradition and also excited about expansive and progressive worship. We’re looking for a church musician to grow with us.
An ideal candidate:
Is a gifted music leader; someone who can accompany congregational singing and encourage participation by the worshipping community.
Is creative, innovative, and flexible. St. Matthew’s is a community who is interested in exploring music and liturgy beyond our tradition.
Has a passion for liturgy. We can teach the basics of Anglican worship, but we’re looking for someone who has a passion for helping people connect to God through music.
Is a competent musician who can make good use of our Rogers Digital Organ and our sanctuary piano. We’re also open to other instruments as well.
Is a capable choir director, able to continue the good work of the St. Matthew’s choir.

Interested candidates should send a letter and resume or C.V. to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 904 Vine Street Liverpool NY 13088 in care of the Very Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent (Rector). Please include references whom we can contact. If you have any questions about the position, you can call Mother Carrie at 457-4633 or e-mail mothercarrie@verizon.net

If you all know anyone who might be interested, please pass this along... Thanks! C

at St. Paul's we're talking about holding an emergent worship service in the evening... i'd love to see a multi-parish service which could bring all of us together... maybe one that traveled parish to parish.

I changed the typo in our group location. Although "Central New Tork, did have quite a "change" ring to it! (Although perhaps another metaphor would be more helpful...)

What did you all and the folks from your congregations think of the Emerging Church Learning Party? I'm interested to see if any of those seeds are taking root.

We've had some pretty interesting conversations about it at St. Matthew's.

Check out the Episcopal Church at the Pride Parade! I just finished a post about it on the NoOutcasts site: There's a YouTube link which shows us marching behind the Episcopal Church banner.

regarding empire brewing, i think of it more as witness than recruitment, so i say yes, throw open the doors!
