Well, to be honest Sarah, lumping 18-39 year-olds in one group is a bit much. When I was 18 I wanted to be in a college aged crowd. When I graduated from college I found a young professionals group at a church in SLC that was fantastic. We were ages 24-early 30's or so. Being 35 now I can tell you I am in a very different place and would not look to join a church group with that big of an age range. We are doing a few things at St. Paul's Walla Walla, WA (I used to be a member of LA)....we have God and Guinness twice a month at a local pub, this captures the 30's and 40's crowd. We also started an Anglican Poets Club which meets quarterly for a month and explores different topics. We just finished T.S. Eliot's "Murder in the Cathedral" and "The Four Quartets". Next up in October will be the metaphysical poets such as John Donne. Best wishes as you try to get things rolling again.

Here at St. Luke's of the Mountains, La Crescenta we have started the new congregation along emergent/fresh expression/whater lines. We gather before the Sunday Service for coffee, conversation and goodies to connect and reconnect. then we all process in together, have a great band, and incrediable wall projections design by a new member who's a animator at Dreamworks. We keep our organization loose and fuild so as not to create inner vs out circles. We have small groups, vitural outreach ministries and great parties. Come check us out.

This August, I re-start some intentional ministry with people ages 18-39ish who gather at St John's. This is a HUGE age/life-range that seems to call for a diversity of conversations and engagements. Inviting feedback at http://slhandph.com/1839survey.html, but so far only 3 ppl have responded. Relationships seem key; however, I'm only there 10 hrs/week and for 16 months! I welcome the wisdom of others, as I prayerfully continue...

Let us know how we can continue to support the Diocese of Los Angeles after the election of the two Bishop Suffragan's....we are with you all the way...and if anything more than moral support and prayer is needed....we are ready for ACTION!
Blessings and Congratulations.....

Thanks, Lester. Yes, settling into life at St John's. Soon enough it'll be time to go. After the GOE & Candidacy interviews in Jan, I hope to visit various Priests around the LA Diocese & learn more about their ministry and mission. Look forward to meeting up with you and checking out Sacellum! (My dream has always been to start a creative 5 PM service...a bit of jealous drool going on...)

Greetings all, I hope everyone is having a brilliant weekend? Sarah, hope you are settling in nicely at St. John's downtown? I have started a 5pm at my church called Sacellum(as-CHELL-um) I am leaning more towards calling it a Fresh Expression than something emergent, but then again I don't like labels. I do some African call and response(with a youth drum circle) some native american, kiwi, african prayers and communal theological reflection. What is everyone else up to?

Hey GUYS!! literally guys!!
It's Stefani Schatz here from England ... Joe Duggan's spouse!
I'm glad to see you here and consider myself definitely a member "by association" at least until we get back to Dio LA.
It would definitely be worth knowing/connecting with people doing emergent things (or mixed economy) in LA. Can we start a discussion about where/what we think-know is going on in LA?
peace from rainy Manchester, -- S
