Scriptural Stations of the Cross by Pope John Paul II
A burden on my heart has been to make some of the practices we have be more scriptural. I am not alone in this desire, because Pope John Paul II wanted the same thing. He re-wrote the Stations of the Cross, making each station to be based on a specific scripture reference.
Attached is a pdf file of his scriptural Stations of the Cross. It has been formatted for 8 1/2 X 14 paper, and is already correlated for front and back print to make it into a booklet. I hope you find it useful!

I also stumbled on this while preparing a Lenten activity for our Youth Group, a pleasant surprise. Was able to use it to flesh out some of the important scenes they'd have missed otherwise--Jesus' words to his mother and John from the Cross really are more powerful to act out than a wordless non-Scriptural meeting along the way.
At the same time, some of the old Stations have interesting history as devotions, and some of those extra-Biblical stories in tradition can still be treasures- traditions around Mary's later years in the Eastern church in Ephesus, for example. But I agree, for something as important as the Cross its nice to be able to go closer to the source.
